- The phone will likely launch soon in India.
- There’s no word on a global launch.
OnePlus has confirmed that it’ll soon launch its next flagship — the OnePlus 8T 5G. The company took to its social media handles on Twitter and Instagram to reveal the name of the phone and announce that it is “coming soon.” The phone was previously tipped to launch on October 14.
A dedicated page for the OnePlus 8T 5G also sprung up on OnePlus’ India website on Saturday. The page is running a promotion wherein people can participate in a lucky draw to win the upcoming flagship phone. The webpage also includes a teaser ad for the OnePlus 8T 5G starring OnePlus brand ambassador Robert Downey Jr.
Currently, the Chinese smartphone maker is only teasing the OnePlus 8T 5G launch in India. Amazon India will sell the phone and has put up a dedicated page teasing its imminent launch. We haven’t been able to spot any OnePlus 8T 5G teasers on other global OnePlus websites or social platforms.
What to expect from the OnePlus 8T 5G?
OnePlus’ T series phones usually bring small upgrades to OnePlus flagships that launch in the first half of the year. The OnePlus 8T 5G, however, is expected to bring some important upgrades to the series. For instance, leaked renders and specs of the phone suggest a chunky Galaxy S20-like camera module at the back. The phone will also reportedly support 65W fast charging up from 30W charging on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
The front of the phone would likely carry the same 6.55-inch display as the OnePlus 8, though with a 120Hz refresh rate. A punch hole on the front is said to house a 32MP selfie shooter, while the rear camera array could comprise a 48MP + 16MP + 5MP + 2MP configuration.
Under the hood, you can expect the OnePlus 8T 5G to run on the Snapdragon 865 chipset. Previous rumors suggested that the phone won’t use the upgraded Snapdragon 865 Plus. However, the teaser commercial released by OnePlus stresses on speed, so there’s still hope for the SD865 Plus on the OnePlus 8T 5G.
