- Mint Mobile will increase the data allotments for all its subscription tiers starting next week.
- This jump in data comes at no extra cost for new or current users.
- Actor Ryan Reynolds, who owns a major stake in the company, announced the change in another silly video.
Today, MVNO carrier Mint Mobile announced a restructuring of its data plans. Bucking the usual trend of companies asking for more money for less value, MM is giving customers more. Now, all subscribers will get more data with their plans.
Starting January 28 (the day before the Galaxy S21 series hits shelves, coincidentally), the data increases take effect. Users on the 3GB plan will now get 4GB of data. The 8GB plan gets upped to 10GB, and the 12GB plan is now the 15GB plan.
Pricing for all plans stays the same as it is today. That’s $15, $20, and $25 each month respectively.

In what has become a tradition, actor Ryan Reynolds announced the news in a funny ad spot. Reynolds — who has a major ownership stake in the company — briefly discusses how much money AT&T and Verizon spend on political donations. He then laments that Mint Mobile doesn’t spend anything on politics.
To rectify this, the company issues a whopping $15 check to the mayor of Idyllwild, CA: a dog named Max. Yes, you read that correctly — the real-life mayor of Idyllwild is a dog and Mint Mobile just gave him a $15 political contribution.
The mayor’s full name is Maximus Mighty-Dog Mueller II. You can read all about this good boy on his Wikipedia page.
