- The Motorola One 5G Ace is a subtle upgrade over last year’s Motorola One 5G. Despite the name, it does not come with Android One.
- As with last year’s model, the specs are underwhelming but gaining access to 5G at this price is a plus.
- The phone will cost just $399.99, making it one of the cheapest ways in the US to access 5G networks.
Last year, Motorola gave us the Motorola One 5G. The original Motorola One came with the Android One platform, which gave hope to buyers that they would get Android upgrades on a set schedule. The Motorola One 5G, however, came without Android One. The 2021 Motorola One 5G Ace — launched today during CES 2021 — continues on with that trend.

Instead of getting semi-reliable Android upgrades, you get some perks like a huge battery, a halfway decent rear camera setup, and classic mid-range staples like a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. Most notably, though, you’re getting a low price. This should help even mid-range buyers enter the world of 5G if that’s something that’s important to them.
You can see the specs of the Motorola One 5G Ace below, and read on further to see how you can get one.

Price and availability
As one would expect, Motorola is keeping the price of the One 5G Ace way down at just $399.99. That makes it one of the cheapest 5G-capable phones you can get in the United States.
If you want to get your hands on the new Ace, pre-orders are open now at Motorola.com. Starting January 14, you’ll be able to buy the phone from the most popular retail partners, including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and more.
Eventually, the Motorola One 5G Ace will launch with US carriers. All the big names are on board, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Google Fi, Consumer Cellular, and more. Motorola wouldn’t commit to a specific date for carrier models, though, other than “in the coming months.”
For our Canadian friends, Motorola did confirm the phone is coming to your country. However, it did not say when or whether it would be unlocked, carrier-branded, or both. Motorola would not confirm if any other countries will see the Ace.
