  • Realme has teased the specs for its 2021 flagships due in the first quarter.
  • The Race Pro will boast a 160Hz screen, a Snapdragon 888 and 125W fast charging.
  • The X9 Pro will use a 120Hz display, a Dimensity 1200 and 65W charging.

Realme is ready to show more than a teaser image for its 2021 flagship phones. The company has offered early specs for both the Realme Race Pro (shown above) and Realme X9 Pro, and both promise cutting-edge tech.

The Realme Race Pro will notably center around a 6.8-inch, 1440p OLED screen with a 160Hz refresh rate. Speedy displays like this are still very rare — even Asus hid the ROG Phone 3’s 160Hz mode. You can expect top-tier performance in other areas as well, including a Snapdragon 888 chip, up to 12GB of low-power DDR5 memory, 125W fast wired charging, and a 5,000mAh battery. You’ll have between 128GB and 512GB of storage.

While the Realme X9 Pro won’t be as powerful, it should still break new ground as one of the first phones using MediaTek’s flagship-class Dimensity 1200 chip.  You can also expect a 6.4-inch, 1080p OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 256GB of storage, a 4,500mAh battery and 65W charging.

Curiously, the lower-end phone will win out in terms of pure camera resolution. The Realme Race Pro will carry a 64MP main rear sensor in addition to two 13MP secondary cameras, while the X9 Pro will swap the main camera for a 108MP shooter. Of course, image quality is another story — we won’t be surprised if the Race Pro ultimately takes better photos.

Both phones will have a release date sometime in the first quarter of 2021 and will run the Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0. The company hasn’t revealed price points for either new model.

It won’t be surprising if other 2021 Android phones match or beat what Realme is offering with the Race Pro and X9 Pro. It’s safe to say they’re powerful, though, and they along with the Galaxy S21  and Mi 11 will set the tone for what you can expect throughout the year.
