  • Samsung will reportedly cut the price of the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 by up to 20%.
  • This could result in a ~$400 price cut for the Z Fold 3 compared to the Z Fold 2.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 3 clamshell foldable and Galaxy Z Fold 3 later this year, and conventional wisdom suggests that we shouldn’t see a major price difference compared to the rather expensive Z Flip and Z Fold 2.

However, SamMobile now reports that the new foldables could be “up to 20% cheaper” than the previous models. The outlet hasn’t cited a source for the claim, but it generally has a great track record when it comes to Samsung-related leaks.

Nevertheless, the Galaxy Z Flip launched at $1,380 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 had a $2,000 starting price. So a 20% cheaper price tag translates to launch pricing of ~$1,100 for the Z Flip 3 and ~$1,600 for the Z Fold 3.

This would be a major price drop for Samsung’s foldables and foldables in general if this news is confirmed. It would also go some way towards making foldable phones more popular, although we hope to see even cheaper foldables from Samsung to truly deliver mainstream popularity.

So what should we expect from the two upcoming foldables then? Well, recently leaked materials extensively showed off the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3. In the case of the former, we have a larger external display, dual rear cameras, and Gorilla Glass Victus on the outside. Meanwhile, the leak pointed to the Z Fold 3 gaining an under-display selfie camera and a triple rear camera system.
