The Snapdragon 888 is now official, and it delivers a big step up in graphical capabilities, photography, machine learning, and more.

Qualcomm’s new processor is expected to power a host of high-end smartphones from a ton of manufacturers around the world. But which brands have confirmed their participation and phones? We’ve got you covered with our rundown.

Asus is no stranger to high-end Snapdragon silicon, using the Snapdragon 800 series processors in its ROG Phone and Zenfone line-up. It’s now confirmed that it’ll be using the Snapdragon 888 as well.

More specifically, mobile GM Brian Chen noted in an official video that its next ROG Phone would be using the brand-new chipset. If Asus is using the silicon as is, it would mark the first time since the original ROG Phone that they aren’t using a Plus chipset. Although, the original phone actually used a speed-binned Snapdragon 845 SoC.

Black Shark

The gaming-focused Black Shark brand delivered two rather intriguing gaming phones in the Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro earlier this year. But it isn’t stopping there obviously.

The Xiaomi-affiliated company has confirmed that “the first batch” of Black Shark devices powered by the Snapdragon 888 will be coming in Q1 2021. So you might want to keep an eye on these phones and the aforementioned ROG Phone if you want the best gaming experience.

LG

The Korean manufacturer has used Snapdragon flagship silicon for years now, and it’s also announced that it will be adopting the new processor in 2021. Unlike 2020 though, it sounds like LG plans to use the Snapdragon 888 for more than just one phone.

“Soon enough, we’ll be able to share more about LG’s 2021 devices that take advantage of this new Snapdragon 888 mobile platform,” LG executive Matthew Crowley said. We’re guessing that the LG V70 will be one of these devices, but what about LG’s rollable phone or the successor to the Velvet? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Motorola

One of the more interesting announcements came from Motorola, as it confirmed that the Snapdragon 888 will be coming to its devices next year. That wasn’t the interesting part though, as the firm had some notable news for the Moto G family in 2021.

“2021 will mark the 10th generation of Moto G, and nothing would make us prouder than bringing 800-series experiences to this family,” Motorola mobile chief Sergio Bunac noted in a video. A press release subsequently sent to Android Authority also notes that “Qualcomm’s advanced 800 mobile platform” is coming to the Moto G series.

We’ve asked Motorola representatives to clarify exactly what this means, as the wording suggests we might not actually see the Snapdragon 888 inside the Moto G series. This could mean that a Snapdragon 855 or Snapdragon 865-powered Moto G device is in the works instead.

Nubia

Red Magic Homescreen

The ZTE-affiliated Nubia brand has delivered phones like the Red Magic gaming series in recent years, generally offering a powerful experience without breaking the bank. So what should we expect next year?

“Our latest product will also be equipped with this new Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship (processor) and will be available in the first quarter of 2021,” an executive noted in a video clip.

OnePlus

OnePlus revealed in a video on Qualcomm’s website that it will be launching a Snapdragon 888 flagship phone in the first half of 2021.

“We believe that the technological innovation of this flagship platform in 5G, games, camera, and other aspects will contribute to the high-end flagship to be launched by OnePlus in (the) first half of next year,” an executive was quoted as saying.

Presumably this will be the OnePlus 9 series, as the brand always launches a new numbered model in the first half of a year, followed by a T variant in the second half.

Oppo

BBK brand Oppo has also confirmed that its Find X3 series flagship will offer the Snapdragon 888. In fact, it added that the new phone would launch in Q1 2021.

This isn’t the only Find X3 news we got in recent weeks, as Oppo also noted that the new phone would offer comprehensive support for 10-bit colors. From image capture to display and editing, you’ll be getting more accurate and vibrant colors on paper.

Realme

Budget brand Realme is no stranger to Snapdragon flagships, having launched the Realme X2 Pro and Realme X50 Pro in recent times. It’s not stopping there, as the firm has teased the Realme Race as its Snapdragon 888 flagship.

The OEM even showed off an image of the phone, revealing a slick device with an Oreo-style quad rear camera setup. Unfortunately the brand didn’t reveal any release details though.

Vivo

BBK brand Vivo has also revealed that it will “soon” launch phones using the Snapdragon 888 chipset. It didn’t give any more details, but alluded to past partnerships with Qualcomm for the X series, Nex series, S series, Iqoo range, and more.

For what it’s worth, the Iqoo 5 series, Iqoo Neo 3, Vivo Nex 3S, and X50 Pro Plus all featured Snapdragon 865 silicon in 2020. So we can probably expect a similar situation next year.

Xiaomi

The value-focused brand is no stranger to Qualcomm’s flagship silicon, and it’s also announced that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 phone will offer the Snapdragon 888 in 2021.

Xiaomi executives also posted a banner on Weibo, claiming that the Snapdragon 888 will debut first on the Mi 11. The company subsequently confirmed to Android Authority that the Mi 11 will indeed be the first Snapdragon 888 phone, but there’s no word if it will be first to market or first to launch.

Redmi GM Lu Weibing added on Weibo that Redmi would also offer the new processor, so those hoping for a Poco F2 Pro/Redmi K30 Pro successor might be in luck.

Qualcomm also displayed a graphic at its event, revealing all the confirmed brands that will be using the Snapdragon 888 next year. Brands not in the list above but appearing in this graphic include Meizu, Sharp, and ZTE.

It’s also worth noting that major players like Google, Samsung, and Sony don’t appear here either. We wouldn’t read too much into this though, as Google, Realme, and Sony were missing from the list in last year’s graphic. And we know that both Realme and Sony released Snapdragon 865 phones anyway.
